I totally heard this segment of Morning Edition and craved figs all that day. Anna, mother of baby, brought home some figs her co-worker picked from her tree. I couldn't believe these figs: the most beautiful, sweet and largest I had ever had! They were the size of medium apples! One completely filled me up. How disappointed was I to find 3 perfectly beautiful figs in the garbage the next day because Anna thought they were over ripe and rotting?
In pursuit of environmental stewardry through food - farming - livable cities - and community.
Not a monologue, but instead a discussion of how these issues intertwine.
And a call to plant a seed, cook your grandmother's favorite recipe, take a long walk with your camera, write a real food manifesto, ride a bike, volunteer, learn the art of weeding, host a potluck, replace your sidewalk with a native plant garden....and finally embrace your political self and participate in local government.

That's awful. Now I want to try some figs that are as big as apples!
